Introduction
Farm machinery has become technically advanced and expensive. Farmers and contractors operating
modern machinery require advanced technical, business and management knowledge and skills.
The aim of the Course is to provide the in-depth knowledge and skills
required for a career as a farmer, agricultural contractor, fabricator,
salesperson or sales demonstrator. (students are not qualified as agricultural
mechanics)
Students who successfully complete the course will have fulfilled all the requirements for

(A level 6 FETAC Certificate is awarded to graduates of the this
course)
This is approx 16months in duration at Pallaskenry Agricultural College conducted from,

Complete 24 weeks placement.

Qualifications Attainable
The syllabi for the following examinations are covered:
- FETAC Advanced Certificate in Agricultural Mechanisation
- City & Guilds. 3942 A Certificate in Land Based Service Engineering.
- City & Guilds 4351 Computer Aided Design
Relationships have been created with other colleges which allow our students to progress to the final
stages of a similar course in those colleges. For example a student can progress to the final year of the General National Vocational Qualification level-II in Reaseheath College, England.
Course Content
The purpose of the course is to provide students with
practical skills and a knowledge of agricultural machinery, workshop
processes, the operation of farm machines.
Students spent approximately 2/3 of their time doing practicals in the
workshops and the other 1/3 on classwork.

Admission to Course
- Students must have completed one year in an agricultural college or an equivalent college, i.e. Institute of Technology.
- Must be recommended by the Principal of the college attended.
Places will be awarded on the basis of an interview and workshop knowledge.
Fees and Grants
The approximate fee payable to the college for the academic year 2009-2010 will be
2800 euro for residential students and 1300 euro for non-residential students.
(The fees payable are net of the N.D.P. grant)
Application and Further Details
For further information and application form please contact the college. Completed application forms should be returned to the Principal together with birth certificate, agricultural college reference and
10 Euro application fee immediately.
(as places are limited, an interview and practical skill assessment will be
held in May / June to allocate places)
A medical certificate will be required at a later date should a candidate be successful in obtaining a place on the course. Parents or Guardians will be liable for any medical expenses incurred by there son or daughter while attending the college. Printable Application Form
